Race director Jim Banyas and his crew of Winner’s Circle race volunteers kept the streak alive with another highly successful running of the Santa’s Toy Trot 2/4/6 Mile Road Races. Race founder Bob Randall, fresh out of knee surgery, was among the finishers, while Maryanne Randall joined the volunteers. Former race director Sharon Yu was also in the race field. They were all happy to see that the WCRC tradition that they worked hard to establish was alive and well. 228 Runners finished in the 3 distances (100 2 milers, 61 4 milers, 67 6 milers) with an additional 30 registrants supporting the cause with race fee and toys but not running. As has become custom, the stage at the Sweetsir school was filled with toys (many runners and volunteers brought multiple toys) which were organized on the spot by volunteers from the Merrimac Holiday Helpers. Thanks to all the many WCRC volunteers who made this happen, and a special thanks to Lisa Rohr who supervised the race timing (timing 3 events at once!). Performance of the day goes to Christopher Baird of Boston who completed the 6 mile event in a blazing 30:04. Now that’s a Toy Trot !!! See the full results on-line.
