Summer Runs / Pool Parties – WCRC Members Only

WCRCpoolpartyjuly2013The Winners Circle Running Club is once again organizing summer runs followed by summer cookout/pool parties (with emphasis on the summer cookouts/pool parties). The runs will be moderate in distance, with the opportunity to run short or not at all. The club will provide the food for the grill, the host will provide the course and pool, and you can BYO your favorite beverages.

WCRC Members Summer Run (optional) & Pool Party & Cookout July 16th.

The first 2016 WCRC summer runs / pool parties / cookouts will be Saturday, July 16, hosted by Tom and Sharon Chase at 42 Moulton Street Newburyport, MA:  http://goo.gl/maps/BJ8J

Optional Run

The run will commence at 1:00 PM. The route will be a lolliloop out to Maudslay State Park and back along Ferry Road and Pine Hill Road Newburyport. Ferry turns into Pine Hill and is a very flat country road. Maudslay State Park has some minor hills and has mostly hard packed trails . Not much vehicle traffic, but no sidewalks, so running on the left is strongly encouraged.

Tom has mapped out 5 miles (about one mile to the park then a 3 mile loop in the park) if you want to go longer (and tougher) you can either repeat the park loop or go out and back on Hoyts Lane or Curzon Mill Road.  There will be water on the route for runners going longer distances, probably in the parking lot at 3.25 miles.

Mandatory Summer Party

The pool party will follow the run, probably around 2:00 – 2:30 PM. The WCRC is sponsoring this summer run series, so we’ll have burgers/dogs, other grille items, munchies, refreshments, and some tunes. Due to liability issues for both the WCRC and the host, this is a BYOB (cans if possible) event. Guests are also welcome to bring a ready to eat dish or dessert to share, and a lawn chair if possible.

For planning purposes, runners and/or partiers should let Tom and Sharon know in advance if they plan on coming. Again, the WCRC is providing the grill items so we need a reasonable count to avoid wasting a large amount of food or alternatively running out of food in the first hour.
