Coronathon Course Notes

The WCRC Coronathon originated in 2020 as a members only Marathon in support of club members who were forced by the Covid-19 pandemic to run a virtual version of the Boston Marathon. Several dozen runners participated and there was a tremendous amount of fan support along the beautifully scenic course. So why not do it again? And why not open it up to all runners? So, that’s what we’re doing! And we’ve added a half marathon option as well!

This year’s Coronathon is going to be even bigger and better than ever! This year’s Coronathon 26.2.2.0 is going to be held on Saturday, October 9, which is during the time frame those entered in the virtual Boston Marathon must complete it. So, if you are going to run a marathon, why not come run it with us?! The race will feature a similar course to last year, with a few modifications to include some newly opened sections of rail trail. The beautiful two-loop course is a fast and flat course that runs through the towns of Salisbury, Amesbury, Newburyport, and West Newbury.

WAIT, THIS IS THE BEST PART!!! This year the race will be open to the public. So, invite everyone you know to come and run with us! For those of you who do not want to run a full marathon, we are going to offer a half marathon option as well! Instead of completing two loops of the course, half marathon runners will just need to complete one loop.

AND THERE’S SWAG!!! All registrants will receive a t-shirt so amazing that it will rival all race shirts. Finishers will also receive an epic medal. After the race there will also be an awesome post-race party at the Winner’s Circle Sports Bar.

We are so excited to be able to finally get back to doing what we love: running, and racing, and hosting races!!! We hope that you will join us on October 9th. Registration is now open at RaceWire | Coronathon 26.2.0.0. Runners who are registered for the virtual Boston Marathon will receive a discounted registration fee, as we understand the costs associated with registering for that race. This is going to be a race that you will not want to miss. It’s going to be great!

NEW VIRTUAL OPTION FOR CORONATHON 26.2.2.0 AND HALF MARATHON!!! Bummed out because you are already signed up for another marathon or half marathon next month? Well good news is here! The Winner’s Circle Running Club is excited to announce that we are offering an option for you to run the Coronathon virtually. All you have to do is run any marathon or half marathon distance and submit your time starting October 1st through November 8th. This is a great opportunity to support the Winner’s Circle Running Club, promote the race, and earn some amazing swag!

All participants will receive a one-of-a-kind race t-shirt and medal. You will definitely not want to miss out! To be clear, runners who sign up for the virtual Coronathon must complete the miles on their own time. This is not an option for people who plan on participating in the live, in-person, race. To register for the virtual Coronathon, you may do so through the RaceWire race registration link higher up on this page.
