27th Annual Evelyn’s Run for the Roses 5K Women’s Road Race plus Non-Competitive Walk
The Men’s Run for the Women
Sunday, May 15 at the Winner’s Circle
11:30 AM start
The 27th Annual Evelyn’s Run for the Roses 5K Women’s Road Race plus Non-Competitive Walk will be run on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Winner’s Circle, just off of the Rte. 110 exit of Rte. 95, in Salisbury, MA. The race will start at 11:30 AM. The race features the popular Mother/Daughter and Sister/Sister women’s team award divisions. As in the past, profits and donations from the race will benefit the Jeanne Geiger Women’s Crisis Center (Newburyport, MA). This year, the race will also benefit Cancer Research.
The Men’s Run for the Women: Men run in solidarity with the women on the same 5K course but with a 2 minute and 30 second handicap added to their finishing time. Women and men (with the 2:30 minute handicap) compete for the same overall and age division awards. This new aspect was introduced into the event as a fun way for men to show their support, promote awareness and help raise money for the same great causes.
$100 CASH PRIZE to the fastest overall time…men’s times include the 2:30 handicap! This format attempts to gender-level the playing field and is sure to make things interesting!!
Register as a co-ed couples team! The 2 registered co-ed teams with the lowest combined times will win this exciting new category.
The Run for the Roses is the second race of the WCRC Speed Series 4-3-2-1. The four race series begins in April at the April Fool’s 4 Mile Race, continues in June with the Pat Polletta 2 Mile Race, and finishes in August at the High Street Mile.
